Are you having issues with Facebook or Instagram restricting your business account? These platforms strictly follow a list of rules in order to keep you and your followers safe. These are called Community Standards or Community Guidelines. These rules ensure that the content on their platform is safe, authentic, doesn’t breach anyone’s privacy, and upholds users dignity. However you may break these rules without knowing it and sometimes their systems to uphold these standards make mistakes. Meta can help you solve these issues and get yourself unrestricted. You just need to know where to look. We’ll quickly go over how to see if you’ve broken any rules and some easy ways to get your account unrestricted.
Did you break the rules?
Firstly, when dealing with a restriction you should make sure you aren’t breaking any rules. If your content breaches a rule it should be taken down and Facebook or Instagram should tell you why. However there are also ways you can break these rules without even posting. Facebook has a long and detailed list of their Community Standards including what they will not allow on their platform. We can’t go over all of these but take a look and see if there is anything you may have done to breach these. Along with this here is a quick list of things that may breach their policy that you may not expect:
- Using multiple Facebook pages or sharing an account with multiple people.
- Posting residential information. For users’ privacy you are not allowed to post information about others homes including photos/videos of their exterior along with street names, addresses, postal codes, etc.
- Sharing others’ contact information unless it has already been made public by the individual.
Quick Solutions
If you find that you aren’t breaking any of these rules you should check if Meta has any suggestions to solve this. This can be done by going to your Meta Business Support Home, and from here going to Account Overview, selecting the restricted account and looking for “What you can do.” Here there may be a list of suggestions that might solve your restriction. Some of these common solutions may include confirming your identity, completing verification, and securing your account. You can find an in-depth walkthrough of checking this and implementing potential suggestions here.
How to Request a Review of your Account
If those solutions don’t work and you are sure you haven’t breached any of the Community Standards, you can request a review of your policy violation by Meta. You can find instructions on how to do this here.
