Act soon if you want to keep old Google Analytics data
Google will start deleting and removing access to all Universal Analytics content on July 1, 2024. Act now to save your data.
Google Universal Analytics (UA) stopped receiving data in July of 2023, when it was replaced by Google Analytics 4 (GA4). The way that data is measured is so different between the two, making it impossible to carry over the data from one version to the other. Until now, users could access the data in both tools, however the older UA tool will start going away for good on July 1, 2024.
Google confirmed this date in a statement updated February 26, 2024, stating:
“Starting the week of July 1, 2024: You won’t be able to access any Universal Analytics properties or the API (not even with read-only access), and all data will be deleted. While the standard sunset took weeks to complete, the full Universal Analytics shutdown will happen within a week. We know your data is important to you, and we recommend that you export your previously processed data before this date.”
Planning now will save you from rushing into a bad situation in June, or worse – losing all of your old data.
