As of today, Microsoft will be no longer be providing support and updates for the Windows XP operating system. Without security updates, Windows XP can and probably will become target for hackers, leaving it vulnerable to new computer viruses and exploits. So, if you’ve skipped Windows Vista, 7 and 8, now might be a good time to update your operating system. After all, Windows XP is over 12 years old.
Why is Microsoft dropping Windows XP support?
Windows XP has lasted longer than Microsoft intended and has become too costly for them to continue supporting. In addition to that, many of the security features built into Windows 7 and Windows 8 are being missed by a large number of users still running Windows XP.
Windows 7 or Windows 8?
If you’re used to Windows XP and are comfortable with the way it feels, Windows 7 is your best option, however, Microsoft has made it increasingly harder to find with the goal of having users adopt Windows 8. Windows 8 on the other hand can take some time to get used to, but the transition can be made easier by enabling certain options.
