Website Accessibility Audits

The government of Ontario has mandated for websites to move toward being accessible for people with disabilities, with full compliance by 2021. Beginning 2014 though, the first level of compliance has been instigated for companies who are a private or non-profit organization with 50 or more employees, or a public sector organization. The compliance began January 1, 2014 for any new public or significantly refreshed websites and any web content posted after January 1, 2012 to meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 Level A. The second stage begins January 1, 2021 where all public websites and content posted after January 1, 2012 must meet WCAG Level AA (other than criteria 1.2.4 – live captions, and 1.2.5 – pre-recorded audio descriptions).
